The Ludlow Side Hill Cronchers
The busy season just seems to get busier. Trail work is moving along. Trail Master Terry Ellison reports that brush hogging and overhead trimming are almost complete and the major work on the Okemo trail has been coordinated between the State Forester, the Landowners' and the contractor and is ready to begin. The raffle sales are reported to be going well with some members already out of tickets and asking for more. The income from this year's raffle will determine the overall financial impact of the new groomer purchase. Please keep up the good work and sell all of the tickets. If you need tickets to purchase or sell, call Terry Peabody at (802) 228-2867. The fall Chicken BBQ fundraiser had to be cancelled for the first time due to the terrible weather we experienced over the Columbus Day Weekend. The Fundraising Committee will consider the impact and any alternatives soon. The Events Committee is discussing the following activities for consideration this winter: a "launching" ceremony & celebration upon the new groomer's arrival, a Club ride-in, a landowners/members winter cookout, a progressive dinner ride and participation in Ludlow's Winter Carnival. New bridge numbering signs have been purchased and will be installed for this season. These signs were donated by our friends at the Ludlow Insurance Agency. Each bridge will be signed and designated with its own distinct number. A trail map with the bridge locations and numbers will be provided to our local 911 Center. The numbered bridges, along with our street identification signs located at every street crossing/stop sign will serve as a reference location for snowmobilers when there is an emergency. We want to thank the Ludlow Insurance Agency for being "pro-active" in their support for the safety of the sport of snowmobiling. A rider safety course will be conducted at the Ludlow Fire Station by Club Safety Officer Ron Bixby and his Crew. The date is Saturday, December 3, 2005. Lunch will be provided by the Club. You can register by calling Ron at (802)228-8823. Class size is limited so call soon. Be sure to keep your eyes on the web page ( for dates of upcoming events.
